Country Boy Brewing and West Sixth Brewing, two Lexington-based breweries, have brewed the first ever collaboration beer brewed by two Lexington breweries.
The beer, which will be called “Country Western” in a celebration of the collaboration, will be a hoppy pale ale, and will be released during Lexington’s first ever Craft Beer Week on May 13th-19th.
And it was a privilege to design their label!
Here at Cricket Press we love two things…posters and beer. That’s it. 2 things. Here’s the poster we designed for Lexington’s Craft Beer Week…enough said.
Poster Week!
We’ve been working hard on a bunch of various event posters. This week we’ll be posting a new one each day. We feel very lucky that our hometown of Lexington is so good to us and we’re excited that every one of these posters is for a local KY event.
Today’s poster is for the upcoming Vintage Kentucky Wine & Beer Festival…this being the first year they’ve included beer…which makes it all the better!

Sterling Beer is coming back. Watch for Sterling Premium Pilsner Beer’s return to Louisville, Southern Indiana, Lexington and beyond.
We were hired by Sterling to design and print this screenprinted poster based on one of their vintage ads. We’re excited to see this local brewer revitalize and where they go from here!

West Sixth Brewery is canning a second beer!
Here is another detail of the can art spread out.
West Sixth Brewery is canning a second beer!
After the success of their IPA…West Sixth is starting to can their Amber. And here is the final, approved design before it goes to print. We’re so excited to continue our relationship with West Sixth as they grow and make amazing beer. It really is a dream job for us as designers…and beer lovers.
Celebrate Your Independents…Drink Local
Come celebrate our community’s Independents — unchained businesses, nonprofits, artists, musicians, farmers, community members, etc. — that keep Lexington unique and vibrant on July 3rd at West Sixth Brewing Co.
Not only did Brian design the logo for the event but he will be one of the many Guest Bartenders!
Summer + Beer + Locals = Celebration!
Our NEW Bike Month 50¢ Art Print for tonight’s
Bike Nite at the Bread Box
Bikes, Beer, Art…enough said
Saturday, May 19th, 5-8pm
We were pretty excited to discover this bit of cool press… Paste Magazine selected their favorite beer labels in honor of American Craft Beer Week, and the can design we did for West Sixth Brewing made the cut! And we’re in very good company.
They must have liked the photo we took of the cans too…because that’s what they used- Our first 6-pack sitting on our backyard patio table. Then we drank them.
Join Cricket Press, Broke Spoke Community Bike Shop and West Sixth Brewing as we celebrate a trifecta of local awesomeness this Saturday night in conjunction with National Bike Month and American Craft Beer Week (two great things that go great together)!
We’ll be opening the Cricket Press studio/gallery space to the public from 5pm - 8pm where we’ll have an exhibit of posters we’ve created for Lexington bike events throughout the years. This exhibit chronicles our involvement with Lexington’s bike scene going back to 2005, and you’ll see many posters that we’ve created for alleycat races, Bike Lexington, Bike Prom, Tweed Ride and much more. We’ll have bike-themed posters and prints for sale, as well as several bike themed t-shirts and of course our 50¢ Art Print Machine will be dispensing a new bike print!
There’s so much more stuff going on at The Bread Box as well that night:
In keeping with the bike theme, Broke Spoke Community Bike Shop will be celebrating their Grand Re-Opening in their new space, just around the corner from West Sixth Brewing (in the Bread Box building). There will be tours of the new space, and you can find out more about the shop and how you can support them, or get involved with their work.
If that’s not enough, West Sixth Brewing will be celebrating American Craft Beer Week with their “Think Local Drink Local” event. They will be featuring their own brews as well as those of other Kentucky breweries.

We’ll have a new print in our 50¢ machine (shown above in the lower left corner). We’ll also have books that collect all the Tiny Treehouses available! We’ll have munchies and beverages but we’re also right next door to the amazing West Sixth Brewery when you’re ready to grab a delicious IPA (or one of their other varieties). Come on down…all the Bread Box Artists will be here with open studios. It’s going to be a great night!

*Treehouse owners can take their treehouses home tonight starting at 8pm. This will give Gallery Hoppers a chance to see all of them. So, don’t doddle…*
The can we designed for West Sixth Brewery is now available! With beer in them! The IPA is delicious and that’s not us being biased…we’re picky, hop-heads around here. So good! We’re pretty proud of this job and our relationship with this groundbreaking, local business.
And here’s us with our first taste of canned goodness.
IPA in a can!
The cans we designed for West Sixth Brewing Company are in and they look great! This was bit of a dream job for us and now that we can hold the can in our hands it’s even more satisfying. Now…to drink a beer out of one!
We also design the logo.

A sneak peek at the can design we created for West Sixth Brewing. Their IPA will be the first canned beer produced by a Ky micro brewery.
They are in production now. We can’t wait to hold one in our hands…preferably with beer in it!

West Sixth Brewing Company
Logo Week!
Here’s a glimpse at the logo we created for the West Sixth Brewing Company! We’re pretty excited about this one as us Cricket Pressers adore beer and the idea of contributing to a local brewer is bit of a dream job.
