The entire DEADWOOD sketch-card series!

200 Portraits
#22 - Dan Dority
Loyal, right-hand man of Al, Dan concludes my Deadwood series as the personal favorite character of the series.

#21 - Ellsworth
“A working ****ing gold claim, Joanie, and thank you for allowing me my full range of expression. ”
The progression of Ellsworth’s character through out the 3 seasons of Deadwood was the most radical. It’s funny to compare the roughneck shooting back shots at The Gem, introduced in the first episode, with the upstanding gentleman he later became. There’s an entire back story to Ellsworth I wish they had explored more because under his multiple exteriors there was a broken, very good, loyal, hardworking man. What can I say…I love Ellsworth!Ink-wash on watercolor paper using Winsor & Newton series 7 Brushes and Speedball Super Black Waterproof India Ink. 2.5” x 3.5”

#20 - Al Swearengen!
“Don’t I yearn for the days when a draw across the throat made f**king resolution.”
There’s nothing else to say about Al.

“They believe you’re the man to deal with. Yankton.”
The last week of Deadwood portraits. All week I’ll be posting my favorite characters from the series…leading to my very favorite. And I’ll admit I really adored all of Al’s cronies. Anyone willing to work for Al was pretty damn smart when it came to Deadwood. Johnny really should be among the favs, but he was bumped…just slightly.

One of Al’s lovably dumb cronies. “If a bird taps on a window, or crashes into one, that means that there has been a death.”

#16 - Tom Nuttall
“My bicycle masters boardwalk and quagmire with aplomb. Those that doubt me… suck cock by choice.” The Tom Bi-cycle scene WAS one of the more fun moments of season 2. And one of the few moments we get to see Tom happy.
