Now for something fun!
I’ve started a separate tumblr account where I’ll be posting more of my Non-Cricket Press related art. This includes all my comics & comic related illustrations, paintings, scribbles, and a variety of other art…including some process too.
Right now I’m posting Daily Treehouses! There’s already a good number up and I have a bunch more.
So if you like things such as: treehouses, summer, youth, flashlights, lightning bugs, ghost stories, and forests…join me over at Tiny Ghost Stories.
Thanks!
BIG THANKS!!!
THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support us at our Spring Clean Print Slam! It was 6 hours or intense awesomeness! Loved seeing all our early years of poster making displayed out over tables and tables and tables. And we really loved seeing folks go home with stacks of their own.
Again…thank you. We love you Lexington!

Process
Saw the movie Mud and it’s the best film I’ve seen this year, so far. I loved the characters and felt the story lent itself to the type of aesthetic I like to explore in my art prints…thus it inspired a new piece…and I thought I’d show a wee bit of process on how I illustrate for a poster.
The first pic is a piece of the art print I drew separately using a blue led pencil and inked with a pentel pocket brush pen. I love how dynamic and loose the brush pen can allow line-work. I then drew what would be the rest of the art print. I drew them separately because I wanted freedom on how to relate the two illustrations in photoshop. Did I want the boat in the tree more hidden in the background? Partially obscured? Or more upfront? I didn’t know yet.
After I ink my illustrations… I scan them into photoshop where I play with layout and color count. This art print is currently a 5 color screenrpint that I can show broken down into color order as soon as I’m officially finished.
And Poster Week concludes with…
Our gigposter for Ben Sollee. These will be available at the show!

Poster Week Day 4!
We’ve been privileged to create the poster for the Rock the Earth Summer Tour series for three years now! For 2013 we wanted to focus on renewable energy - wind, solar, and alternative transportation (which is perfect for this bike month of May ;)
The poster is also printed on 100% recycled paper, created with 100% green hydropower (just like ALL of our posters, btw!).
Poster Details:
3 color screenprint
12”x18”
edition of 125
Poster Week Day 2!
Our poster commissioned by Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
This was a design-only job thus we were freed to use more colors than we might typically for a screenprinted poster.
Another Poster Week!
We’ve been busy poster artists so we’ll be showing a new poster every day this week.
To start things off we were commissioned by the Lexington Art League to create an art print for this year’s Francisco’s Farm Arts Festival. These will be for sale at the event.
Details:
3 color screenprint
12”x18” with full bleed
edition of 50
-COMICS-Here at Cricket Press we’re working on several different projects we can’t show just yet…so…in between client-work or waiting to hear back from clients I’m fitting in work on my comic The Ghosts of Pineville - BOOK 3!
Yes, I’ve written it and now I’ve started penciling it. This will be my longest book in the series with a page count of 125 (at the moment). So, it will take me a bit longer to complete than my past books. And realistically, Cricket Press is a lot busier than we were when I started (& completed) the first 2 books. But I’m super excited to be working on my beloved series again and super excited about where this third story takes my cast of characters and the town of Pineville!
I write all my books in three parts with a significant intro before Part One. It’s my goal to have the 25 page Intro completed (penciled, inked, lettered and halftoned) for debut at this year’s SPX as a teaser booklet…to get people jazzed about the final story!
And I’ll most likely post about my work along the way. Yay for comics!
New Work
