We’re really proud of our relationship with Sweetgrass Granola and after months of work they have their new packaging: bags and labels illustrated by us.
…asked us to create a custom screenprinted poster for their 2013 season! We had a lot of fun with this design. They are now available at the Lexington Farmers Market booth! They are a limited edition…so, don’t hesitate. Plus, by going to the Farmers Market to pick up a poster you get to see all the other amazing, local participants. A few items that are always on our list but didn’t get added to the poster are Magic Beans Coffee & Sweetgrass Granola!

Harry Dean Stanton - Original Screenprint
-Pretty in Pink-
Did you know that Harry Dean Stanton is from Kentucky? Did you know that Lexington, KY holds an annual Harry Dean Stanton Movie Fest? A small collection of his extensive career is featured every year and in coordination with the 2013 Fest a Harry Dean Stanton Gallery Show was organized. We contributed 4 pieces - HDS from our most favorite HDS movies, each stylized to fit the feel and title of the movie: Alien, Escape from New York, Red Dawn, and Pretty in Pink!
They are all now available in our Etsy Shop!

Poster Week Day 2!
Our poster commissioned by Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
This was a design-only job thus we were freed to use more colors than we might typically for a screenprinted poster.
Another Poster Week!
We’ve been busy poster artists so we’ll be showing a new poster every day this week.
To start things off we were commissioned by the Lexington Art League to create an art print for this year’s Francisco’s Farm Arts Festival. These will be for sale at the event.

-COMICS-Here at Cricket Press we’re working on several different projects we can’t show just yet…so…in between client-work or waiting to hear back from clients I’m fitting in work on my comic The Ghosts of Pineville - BOOK 3!
Yes, I’ve written it and now I’ve started penciling it. This will be my longest book in the series with a page count of 125 (at the moment). So, it will take me a bit longer to complete than my past books. And realistically, Cricket Press is a lot busier than we were when I started (& completed) the first 2 books. But I’m super excited to be working on my beloved series again and super excited about where this third story takes my cast of characters and the town of Pineville!
I write all my books in three parts with a significant intro before Part One. It’s my goal to have the 25 page Intro completed (penciled, inked, lettered and halftoned) for debut at this year’s SPX as a teaser booklet…to get people jazzed about the final story!
And I’ll most likely post about my work along the way. Yay for comics!
Here at Cricket Press we love two things…posters and beer. That’s it. 2 things. Here’s the poster we designed for Lexington’s Craft Beer Week…enough said.
Poster Week - Day 5
And it concludes with…
This was not only a super fun poster to design but it’s an event that I’m super excited to take part in with my comics and books: The Lexington Ephemera Festival! So, if you’re interested in participating too…just go to their facebook event page and there’s a link to register. Since it’s the first year there is limited space, but it should be a great time! Can’t wait!

Poster Week - Day 4
We were commissioned by the Northside Neighborhood Association to create a poster for their upcoming Historic House & Garden Tour. All of the homes and gardens referenced on the poster will be on the tour…plus many more. We went through a lot of architectural photographs, with the clients, to pick out the elements we ultimately chose for the poster. A fun project. And I’m taking my mom on the tour!

Poster Week - Day 3
We were commissioned by Kentucky Rock & Adventure Guides and Octopus Yoga Retreats to create a poster for upcoming retreats they have planned at Red River Gorge - Asana on the Rock. They were a lot of fun to work with as they were the ones to suggest the theme of the poster: a woman standing in warrior position blasting down UFOs with her hands…in the gorge. Thus, this was approved!

Poster Week - Day 2!
We were commissioned by the Lexington Junior League Horse Show to create a poster for their 2013 event. When we met they shared a wonderful collection of posters going as far back as the 1920s. The older posters were these fun (sometimes very funny) illustrations while the more modern posters were primarily comprised of photographic collages of prior events. For 2013 we agreed a nod to their more vintage poster aesthetics was the right direction…thus the organic brush work and color scheme of this final, approved piece.
So locals…you might see this image around. It’s not only the poster, but a billboard, bumper sticker and cover to this year’s schedule packet.

Poster Week!
We’ve been working hard on a bunch of various event posters. This week we’ll be posting a new one each day. We feel very lucky that our hometown of Lexington is so good to us and we’re excited that every one of these posters is for a local KY event.
Today’s poster is for the upcoming Vintage Kentucky Wine & Beer Festival…this being the first year they’ve included beer…which makes it all the better!

Big thanks to the organizers, other participating vendors, and all who came by our booth yesterday during the first annual Kentucky Green Living Fair. It was a phenomenal day! Good weather, friendly people and great conversation. Plus a lot of our posters now have new, happy homes!
We ♥ you KY!
